Synopsis
Miaoyuan Long and Zen Lu of the ON/OFF media Group document the Shenzhen River and the Second Line of the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone, two borders that separate Hong Kong from mainland China. Constructed in June 1982 and demolished in June 2015, the Second Line marked the divide between socialism and capitalism. The film illustrates the Big Escape, a mass migration from mainland China to Hong Kong during the 1950s to 1970s. The 15-minute piece reflects on the geopolitical history of Shenzhen and its evolving boundaries.
