Synopsis
Les McLaren and Annie Stiven, Australian filmmakers, reflect on their experiences in Papua New Guinea over the past 25 years. They challenge the paternalistic portrayal of the region by the Commonwealth Film Unit before the 1970s. Through interviews with fellow filmmakers like Bob Connolly and Robin Anderson, the documentary presents a diverse representation of Papua New Guinean culture, language, and thought. It traces the evolution of PNG's cultural narrative from the 1930s to the present day.
