Synopsis

Philippe, Michel, Andre, and Patrick recount their pasts as they recall being labeled 'idiots' and confined to violent asylums. Their situation changes in the 1960s when Jean Vanier intervenes and secures their release. Together, they establish L’Arche, a commune near Paris. L’Arche becomes a place for individuals marginalized by society to find acceptance and community. Jean Vanier, now in his 80s, continues to live at L’Arche, promoting a message of humanity and happiness.
