Synopsis

The Gambia, the smallest country in Africa, faces a severe fish shortage due to the rise of Chinese fishmeal factories. These factories process local fish primarily for animal feed, which is then exported to China and Europe. Despite local protests, the neo-colonial business model thrives, with promises of new roads and job creation proving to be deceptive. The documentary highlights the experiences of fishermen Paul and Abou, along with fish seller Mariam, illustrating the broader narrative of West Africa's stolen development and the impact of foreign exploitation on local communities.
