Synopsis
Steve James returns to Pomona, a rural town in Southern Illinois, in 1995 to reconnect with Stevie Fielding, a boy he mentored through Big Brothers Big Sisters. After ten years, James finds Stevie facing significant challenges in his life. Two years later, Stevie is charged with a serious crime. Through interviews with Stevie and those close to him, the film documents his struggles and seeks to understand the factors that led to his troubled path. Stephen Fielding was released from prison in 2009.
