Two notebooks written in numerical code are decoded by filmmaker James Benning, revealing insights into Ted Kaczynski's life and beliefs.
Synopsis
Ted Kaczynski’s cabin in Montana serves as the backdrop for James Benning's film, Stemple Pass. The documentary features four seasonal shots of the replica cabin, accompanied by readings from Kaczynski’s journals from the early 1970s. These writings detail his experiences with hunting and gathering, as well as his connection to nature. The film includes a hand-written sheet on Kaczynski's acts of 'monkey wrenching', two notebooks in numerical code, and excerpts from his manifesto, Industrial Society and Its Future. A 2001 interview with Kaczynski adds further context to his ideology.
