Synopsis

At twenty-six, Noel Starblanket became one of the youngest Indigenous chiefs in North America, serving as chief of the Starblanket Reserve in Saskatchewan and vice-president of the Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations. Guided by his great-grandfather's advice to "learn the wit and cunning of the White man," Starblanket engages with government officials to secure grants, runs for public office, and addresses domestic issues within his community. Directed by Donald Brittain, this 1973 documentary highlights his leadership and advocacy efforts.
