Synopsis
On Mauna Kea, the proposed site for the Thirty Meter Telescope, kiaʻi (protectors) rally against plans for construction. Mothers and daughters from three Native Hawaiian families share their stories. They discuss their commitment to preserving the mountain and their cultural traditions. Director Jalena Keane-Lee's 2024 film, Standing Above the Clouds, runs for 85 minutes and builds on an award-winning short film of the same name.
