Synopsis

George Gittoes lives in Jalalabad, Afghanistan, a region marked by conflict and Taliban influence. For nearly 50 years, Gittoes has documented the effects of war on society. In Snow Monkey, he focuses on the lives of children in the area, particularly three groups: the Ghostbusters, who perform exorcisms; the Snow Monkeys, who sell ice cream; and the Gangsters, led by a nine-year-old named Steel. Gittoes presents a personal view of the challenges these children face amid ongoing turmoil.
