Synopsis
Phyu Phyu Than lives in an apartheid-style camp in Rakhine State, Myanmar, cut off from education and her home. Aung San Myint, a Buddhist boy, struggles to support his studies while his family faces economic hardship. Both teenagers experienced violence during the communal clashes of 2012, which destroyed their homes. Over two years, interviews reveal their perspectives on each other's communities and their hopes for reconciliation. Directed by Jeanne Marie Hallacy, Sittwe was banned from premiering in Myanmar but later screened in Thailand and the U.S.
