Synopsis
Johanne Harrelle, abandoned as an infant on the doorstep of a Montreal orphanage, became a prominent figure in Canadian arts. Simply Johanne, directed by Nadine Valcin, presents a portrait of Harrelle's life as an actress and one of North America's first Black models. The film features archival footage, interviews with family and friends, and performances of her writings by actresses Isoloy Katshingu, Abla Osman, and Danielle Ouimet.
