Synopsis
Abdi Osman documents lush green parks across Toronto, spaces where queer communities have formed connections. The film features projections of these environments alongside an online audio work. This audio includes oral histories from Black, queer, and trans individuals discussing their experiences with cruising in the city. Osman’s research addresses the ongoing challenges of homophobia, racism, and white supremacy that affect these communities. "Shadowboxing" runs for 47 minutes and was released in 2021.
