Synopsis
Yang Jia attacked the Zhabei Public Security Branch Bureau in Shanghai in June 2008, killing six police officers. After his arrest, he faced charges of intentional homicide. The case escalated when his mother vanished during his six-month detention and trial. "Scouting for Toys," directed by Ai Weiwei, investigates Yang's motivations and critiques the Chinese judicial system, addressing issues of government control and its effects on citizens' rights. The film runs for 180 minutes and was released in 2022.
