Synopsis

At a temple in Kyoto, a Zen priest reflects on the concept of metaphysical immortality through the act of breathing. Meanwhile, in Shirahama, Dr. Shin Kubota, an ageing scientist, investigates the life cycle of a jellyfish that may hold the key to biological immortality. Inspired by Nathaniel Rich's article in The New York Times, filmmaker Spencer Macdonald captures the contrasting pursuits of these two individuals, revealing their unique approaches to understanding life and death. The documentary runs for 18 minutes and was released in 2020.
