Synopsis
Cities around the world face light pollution that obscures the night sky. Eighty percent of people can no longer see the Milky Way. Excessive and improper lighting disrupts sleep and harms nocturnal habitats. Advances in LED technology allow some cities to illuminate streets while conserving energy and preserving dark environments. Created in association with the International Dark-Sky Association, Saving the Dark discusses methods to combat light pollution and the necessity of keeping dark night skies.
