Synopsis
More Cubans embrace Santeria, a popular religion rooted in African traditions.
Synopsis
In November 2003, more Cubans are turning to the popular religion of Santeria for spiritual guidance. In the small Cuban town of Regla, a woman hosts a vibrant party for her saint, celebrating with music and rituals. Guests watch as her 'saint' dances to the drums, spitting rum to cleanse their souls. Santeria, which originated from African slaves brought to Cuba, has evolved into a significant aspect of Cuban culture, with approximately 80% of the population believed to practice it. This documentary highlights the deep-rooted traditions and communal spirit that define Santeria in contemporary Cuba.
