Synopsis
Svetlana, a mail-order bride from post-Soviet Russia, arrives in California with her two children to meet a man she has never met. Inspired by the 1980s soap opera Santa Barbara, the film includes audition footage, behind-the-scenes clips, and archival home movies. An interview with Svetlana, the director's mother, adds personal context. The documentary presents a blend of memory and performance, illustrating the experience of immigrating to America in the 1990s.
