Synopsis

By West Lake, Wu Jun reflects on her life as a mother. For over a decade, she has faced emotional turmoil after her daughter Quanquan, then 16, died by suicide in 2004. Quanquan's last words left Wu confused and heartbroken. Her husband, unable to cope, left Hangzhou. Wu later raised another daughter, Tingting, who became difficult during her teenage years. Amid fierce educational competition, Wu reads Quanquan's favorite fable, Rooster the Golden Comb, seeking answers to her struggles in parenting.
