Approximately 200 miners, aged 17 to 50, crawl through shafts 60 to 70 meters deep to extract coal. Each miner carries 30 loads daily, with each load weighing 50 kilograms. They earn 500 yuan a month without insurance and often develop pneumoconiosis after four or five years. Families receive a 5,000 yuan pension if a miner dies in an accident.
