Synopsis
In 1976, Gilberto Gil arrived in Lagos, Nigeria, to take part in the Second Festival of Black Art and Culture. This event attracted around fifty thousand artists from the African diaspora. The festival significantly shaped Gil's artistic vision and inspired his landmark album, Refavela. Refavela 40 marks the 40th anniversary of this album, featuring archival footage and interviews that reflect on its influence on Brazilian Popular Music and the cultural ties between Brazil and Africa.
