Synopsis

In southern Turkey, a group of peasant women adapts William Shakespeare's "King Lear" to reflect their own experiences. They travel to remote villages, performing in areas where access to basic necessities, such as drinking water, is limited. Through their theatrical interpretations, these women confront themes of age, wealth, and identity. Their performances redefine their roles within their communities and demonstrate how theater can address social issues and foster connections among diverse populations. Directed by Pelin Esmer, "Queen Lear" runs for 84 minutes.
