Walter Genewein, the chief accountant in the Lodz ghetto, captured a series of color slides that reveal the daily lives of Jewish workers during the Holocaust. Discovered in a second-hand bookstore in Vienna in 1987, these photographs reflect Genewein's technical focus while he implemented policies that extended the ghetto's existence through productivity and cost-cutting. Directed by Dariusz Jabłoński, the film reinterprets these images, contrasting Genewein's detached perspective with the suffering experienced by the inmates in this dark chapter of history.
