Film Lens

Our Curse
Our Curse is a 2013 Polish documentary directed by Tomasz Śliwiński that chronicles the first six months of his son Leo's life, who has a rare genetic disorder known as Ondine's curse. The film captures the intimate experiences of the family as they navigate the challenges posed by Leo's condition, which affects his ability to breathe automatically during sleep. Śliwiński began documenting their experiences at the suggestion of a friend, using the medium as a form of therapy while he was studying at film school. The film features contributions from both Tomasz Śliwiński and his wife, Magda Hueckel, who is a professional photographer. Their personal narrative is set against the backdrop of their daily life, providing a raw and honest portrayal of parenthood in the face of adversity.
