Synopsis
In 1960, the USSR initiated humanitarian aid programs in newly independent African countries, driven by Marxist ideology. Over the next 35 years, Soviet filmmakers documented the spread of socialism across the continent. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, interest in Africa waned, yet thousands of kilometers of footage remained. "Our Africa" features insights from those filmmakers, reconstructing the era of the “Great Utopia” and revealing the methods behind the production of propaganda films.
