Synopsis
In 1939, Lucienne, a saleswoman at Gallimard, meets Simon, an American student, against the backdrop of significant historical events such as the end of the Spanish Civil War and the fight against Nazism. Director Richard Copans explores his parents' love story through 63 wartime letters from 1944, declassified FBI files, and recordings of his father, Sim Copans, a radio host who introduced American jazz to France. This documentary intertwines personal history with broader historical narratives, offering a poignant reflection on love during tumultuous times.
