Synopsis

Fishermen along a 50-kilometer stretch of the Rio de Janeiro coast, between Macaé and Cabo Frio, face a crisis due to pollution from an anhydrous alcohol production plant on the São João River. The facility releases "vinhoto," a by-product of sugar cane, which contaminates the water and disrupts the ecosystem. As pollution spreads to the sea, local fishermen, scientists, and technicians raise alarms about the threat to public health and the traditional fishing economy in the region.
