Synopsis
Leonardo da Vinci, a Renaissance figure, combined artistry with scientific inquiry. In 2019, on the 500th anniversary of his death, NOVA, with biographer Walter Isaacson, investigates his life and work. The program examines da Vinci's inventions, including parachutes and armored tanks, alongside his artistic achievements. It also looks at how his dissections of cadavers and studies of optics informed his techniques, particularly in creating the "Mona Lisa," one of the most recognized paintings in history.
