Next Stop: Utopia

Synopsis

In Thessaloniki, Greece, workers at the VIO.ME. factory occupied the facility in 2015 after its shutdown. They began operating under principles of direct democracy. The initiative aimed to sustain their livelihoods and became a symbol for the radical left. As the former owner observes, the workers face challenges that require their adaptation and cooperation. Their experiences reflect the difficulties of self-management within a capitalist system. The documentary runs for 91 minutes and is directed by Apostolos Karakasis.
