Synopsis

Ludwig Borchardt unearthed the famous bust of Nefertiti in 1912, a discovery that would spark controversy. The documentary details Borchardt's controversial methods to transport the artifact to Berlin, where Adolf Hitler envisioned it as the centerpiece of a new Egyptian museum. Meanwhile, modern efforts to authenticate the bust involve X-ray examinations. The Egyptian government has sought its return, but Hitler's regime hid the bust in a salt mine to protect it from Allied bombing raids during World War II.
