Synopsis

Naleena, an Indian transgender, navigates life as part of the Hijra community, often referred to as the "third sex." In a ritual dedicated to the Goddess Kali, Hijras undergo emasculation performed by the Thaaiamma, a sacred midwife, in secret and without anesthesia. Once revered as priestesses, many Hijras now face societal rejection, living as outcasts. To survive, a significant number resort to begging and prostitution, reflecting the stark contrast between their historical significance and current struggles.
