Synopsis

Grandma Zeinegul holds firm to her belief that true Kazakh girls do not marry Russians. Years later, her granddaughter returns to Kazakhstan, having defied that expectation. The family dynamic has shifted; her mother struggles with alcoholism, her father has remarried, and her grandmother remains devoted to prayer. The granddaughter seeks to recreate a family photograph from her childhood, capturing the complex relationships she has with those she loves and resents.
