Synopsis
Lorong Panchar, off Sixth Avenue in Singapore, became the site of a compulsory exhumation in 1995. The grave of the director's great-grandparents was disturbed as part of this order. Tan Pin Pin documents the process and its implications in this 21-minute film, completed in 1996. The narrative includes the history of the director's great-grandfather, who immigrated from Xiamen, China, in the late 1800s and opened a crockery shop at Clive Terrace, now no longer standing.
