Synopsis

Xu Huijing follows the local birth control chief in the village of Ma, China, as government officials enforce the Communist Party's one-child policy. The film documents the imposition of fines, birth control measures, and forced sterilizations during a period of increased sterilization quotas. It captures the local consequences of these high-level policies, illustrating the challenges faced by families and the bureaucrats tasked with compliance. The documentary runs for 68 minutes and was released in 2012.
