Synopsis
Al-Muqannaʿ, known as “The Veiled One,” emerged as a significant figure in eighth-century southern Central Asia. A dyer by trade, he became a spiritual and political agitator, advocating for a blend of Zoroastrianism, Mazdakism, and Buddhism. His teachings inspired the “White-Clothed” disciples to challenge land exploitation and authoritarian rule. The documentary examines how his legacy was later appropriated by Soviet propaganda as a symbol of resistance for communal property and wealth sharing. Directed by Saodat Ismailova, the film runs for 36 minutes.
