Maniac Summer

Synopsis

Chantal Akerman moves through her apartment in Paris during the summer of 2009. The camera, positioned in front of a window, captures her daily activities: smoking, working, and talking on the phone. The central video features fragments of her routine, while adjoining panels present modified and repeated images from the main footage. These abstract afterimages serve as reflections of the original scenes, creating a triptych that lacks a defined beginning or end. The work invites contemplation of memory and everyday life.
