Synopsis
Gabriela Mistral lived in her Long Island home after the suicide of her only son. The Chilean poet won the Nobel Prize for Literature. Her relationship with Doris Dana, an American, is central to the story. Doris recorded their conversations during Mistral's declining health. These recordings reveal Mistral's struggles with grief and her creative spirit. María Elena Wood directed this 72-minute documentary, released in 2011, which captures the depth of their bond.
