Made in Varzea

Synopsis

Yolanda drives a bus while Flávia works as a beautician. Both women share a passion for football, a sport historically restricted for women in Brazil. From 1941 to 1983, a decree prohibited women from playing, but decades later, they continue to face challenges in gaining acceptance in the sport. “Made in Várzea” follows their daily lives and the lowland games they play, illustrating how they use football as a means of empowerment and resistance against sexism.
