In the Dabao River basin, a 'ghost temple' marks the site where hundreds of Atayal people were buried. These individuals were victims of the Japanese government's early campaign of genocide during its colonial rule in Taiwan. This massacre predates the Wushe Incident of 1930 and remains largely unknown. The filmmaker made over a hundred visits to the mountains, searching for historical clues to piece together this overlooked chapter of history.
