Synopsis

Leonid Kogan, a renowned violinist, faced severe restrictions from the Soviet government as he sought to perform abroad. His talent placed him among the elite artists of the 20th century, alongside figures like Pablo Picasso and Mstislav Rostropovich. When authorities suspected his desire to emigrate, they limited his concert opportunities and ultimately banned him from leaving the country. Kogan's struggle for artistic freedom culminated in his death a year later, illustrating the heavy toll of repression on creative expression.
