Synopsis
Young individuals from insular communities face major challenges after leaving their homes. Many experience ostracism and are cut off from family support. Limited education and marketable skills hinder their ability to reintegrate into society. A number speak Yiddish or an archaic form of Hebrew, complicating their transitions. Directed by Eric Scott in 2008, "Leaving the Fold" tells their stories, revealing the hardships they encounter as they adapt to a world that feels foreign. The documentary runs for 52 minutes.
