Dhondup Wangchen and Jigme Gyatso filmed interviews with 108 Tibetans in the lead-up to the 2008 Beijing Olympics. The documentary, Leaving Fear Behind, captures their views on the Dalai Lama and the Chinese government. Filming took place from August 2007 to March 2008 in Tibet. Just before the release, riots erupted across Tibetan areas. Shortly after, both filmmakers were detained by Chinese authorities. The 25-minute film premiered on the opening day of the Olympics, providing a rare glimpse into the sentiments of ordinary Tibetans.
