Synopsis

Claude Monet and a group of young painters gathered in Paris in 1874 to challenge the conventions of the official Salons. Artists such as Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Camille Pissarro, and Berthe Morisot sought to redefine how forms and light were perceived in art. Their work faced skepticism from critics and the public. With the support of art dealer Paul Durand-Ruel, these Impressionists eventually gained recognition, leading to their inclusion in national museums thirty years later. The film uses period documents to trace this significant movement in modern art.
