Last Melting is a documentary. In the village of Nickel, located west of Murmansk, the smelting shop conducted its final melting on December 23, 2020. Originally built in the 1930s when the area was part of Finland, the plant was restored after World War II when the territory became Soviet. During the 1980s, it emitted approximately 400,000 tons of sulfur dioxide annually. The Norilsk Nickel company, which took over the plant in the 1990s, initially agreed to modernize operations but later abandoned the plan.
