John Dored, a Latvian cinematographer, trained with Pathé and filmed on the front lines of World War I. He was the only foreigner to capture Lenin’s funeral, an act performed illegally. After moving to the United States, Dored worked as a correspondent for Paramount News for 25 years, reporting from various war zones. The film draws from the correspondence and journals of Dored and his wife, Elizabeth, presenting a portrait of his career and personal life.
