Synopsis
James Baldwin arrived in Paris in November 1948, seeking refuge from American racism. He settled in the Left Bank artist community of Saint-Germain-des-Prés, supported by a fellowship grant. Directed by Yashaddai Owens, "Jimmy" captures Baldwin's experiences and creative growth as he writes his early works. The documentary is filmed in black-and-white on 16mm, with an original score by Paco Andreo.
