Synopsis
Bise, a village in Yunnan province, transformed in 1910 when the French commissioned Chinese workers to build a railway to Vietnam. Director Yu Jian captures the daily life along the tracks, where traders, sweet sellers, and railroad employees interact. Sounds of dogs, birds, and radios fill the air. As the film progresses, local residents share memories, including a land worker who recalls collective farming and a shift in marriage customs. Railroad workers receive a memo praising their work ethic and reiterating safety regulations.
