Interview with a Cannibal is a documentary. Issei Sagawa, a Japanese man, committed murder in 1981 when he shot Dutch student Renée Hartevelt and subsequently consumed parts of her body. Arrested in Paris, Sagawa claimed, "I killed her to eat her flesh," leading to his institutionalization. Declared insane and unfit for trial, he was deported to Japan, where legal loopholes allowed him to be deemed "sane, but evil." Released from a psychiatric hospital in 1986, Sagawa has lived freely ever since, raising questions about justice and morality.
