A 17-minute behind-the-scenes film made during the production of May December reflects on identity through a metacinematic lens.
Synopsis
At the Centre Pompidou in Paris, Todd Haynes responds to the “Où en êtes-vous?” (“Where Are You?”) collection with a 17-minute behind-the-scenes film. Set during the production of May December, the work draws inspiration from Ingmar Bergman’s Persona and Jean-Luc Godard’s Two or Three Things I Know About Her. It presents a metacinematic look at identity, intertwining the creative process with reflections on the nature of performance and self-representation.
