Synopsis

Lieutenant-General M.M. Dolgin, Deputy Chief of Civil Defense of the USSR, discusses emergency preparedness in extreme situations. The film includes newsreel footage of civil defense training during wartime. It also covers the response to radioactive contamination following the 1986 Chornobyl nuclear power plant accident. Lieutenant-General M.S. Bondarchuk provides additional insights on the measures taken to protect the population in man-made and natural disasters. The documentary runs for nine minutes and was released in 1991.
