Synopsis

Patrick Joseph Simms tends to the statue of the Virgin Mary in Ballinspittle, Ireland. In 1985, the statue reportedly came to life, drawing thousands of pilgrims to the local grotto. For one summer, the event captivated the nation. Nearly forty years later, a small group of local devotees remains. Through their voices, the film presents a picture of rural Irish Catholicism and the darker aspects that linger beneath the surface.
